Horror by Blumhuose which, as the title says, is about a cursed swimming pool. The film is a bit too impersonal, the basic staging is not bad, it is undoubtedly acceptable, but it is the fairly standard one of these productions. In fact it seems a film more of the production than of a look from director McGuire. In the prologue we witness a reversal through a good camera movement that starts the whole thing, suggests the evil nature of the swimming pool and of the story, but immediately afterwards there are some mechanisms rather standard horror, always in the prologue. The film focuses on the Waller family, here Ray has physical problems, dreams of being able to play baseball again, is in fact bewitched by the swimming pool and in this aspect there are coherent and functional intuitions such as element of the rain and the photography that plays with many blue elements. The individual shots of Ray looking at the pool are also appreciable. The narrative tries to build everything up, create a bit of mystery about the pool, about the previous victims, so yes takes its time, rightly so, but it's the overall management that doesn't work at its best. Unfortunately the family is poorly characterized, ok Ray, but his children, both the girl and the little brother are not really explored, the youngest son would seem having difficulties, loneliness, but the film doesn't dwell on it at all. Even Eve, Ray's wife, isn't in the slightest in depth, there is a dialogue between her and her daughter where they talk about the difficulties and sacrifices in constantly moving around, but where are these difficulties? What effects do they have? In the film these aspects are absent... it's a shame. Potentially the film also opens up to interesting situations, other than those mentioned above, in the end during the clash, there is a scene where Eve and her daughter fight "evil" Ray, two females united against the male, Read all

plot

Forced into early retirement by a degenerative illness, former baseball player Ray Waller moves into a new house with his wife and two children. He hopes that the backyard swimming pool will be fun for the kids and provide physical therapy for himself. However, a dark secret from the home's past soon unleashes a malevolent force that drags the family into the depths of inescapable terror.
