A joy for the eyes and the heart

Japan has always had a great fascination in my imagination: samurai, geisha, ronin, honor, duty, zen, abstruse ceremonials...
When I read the first impressions of this series the expectations were truly very high.
So I decided to set sail towards the Japanese coasts together with the English 'barbarian' John Blackthorne and never was a happier decision!
Palace intrigues, loves, betrayals, honour, katanas that cut off bodies and so on and so forth...
An essential writing, actors in a state of grace (apart from Jarvis, who didn't fully convince me) with Sanada playing around with everything and everyone and the wonderful Anna Sawai giving depth to an unforgettable character.
The added value of this series, apart from the impeccable and obsessive attention to scenographic details and costumes, lies in building the story slowly, to make us fully enjoy the dynamics of the characters, the changes in their characters or grasp the whirlwind of shocking emotions in faces frozen in smiles of circumstance.
A series that must be seen and savored like a good sake, allowing yourself to be taken back 400 years enjoying the journey with your eyes and heart (you decide the order).
